Long Harbour Energy Infrastructure Fund

The rapid deployment of renewable energy in many jurisdictions over the past decade is fundamentally transforming national energy systems.  Traditionally, energy systems have been centralized, consisting of a network of large, conventional power plants (typically coal, gas and/or nuclear).  However, this is now shifting towards a decentralized system of smaller, distributed generators, many of which generate intermittent power (typically wind and solar).  As the share of intermittent power in the national energy mix increases, so does volatility of supply and demand on the electricity system.  This is increasingly complex to manage, and is creating a well-documented need for smart, flexible generators capable of responding rapidly when called on by a system operator.

Long Harbour has an in-house team who actively track market and policy developments in the energy sector.  We have identified several attractive investment prospects arising from the transformation of national energy systems – in particular, flexible energy storage.  In order to capitalise on this opportunity, we have recently launched the Long Harbour Energy Infrastructure Fund.  The Fund will benefit from best-in-class management and investment analysis, as well as technical expertise and a unique, proprietary approach to energy trading.  For more information, please contact our Key People.

We expect our work with infrastructure projects around the world will be a major growth area of Long Harbour's business in the future and one which our limited partners are likely to find attractive to invest in.
