The Long Harbour Group Charity Committee is proudly supporting Freedom from Torture’s celebrated biennial Art Auction with works by world-famous artists to raise funds for torture survivors.

Freedom from Torture is a national charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers who have survived torture, standing with them throughout their recovery. Over the next few years, the charity aims to double the number of people who receive their rehabilitation therapies and provide twice as many survivors with the expert clinical reports they need to support their asylum claims. With support centres throughout the UK, their work and services help to rebuild the lives of so many through community care and support. For these reasons, their biennial art auction is crucial in raising awareness and money to support such initiatives.  Contributing artists in 2023 include Grayson Perry, Antony Gormley, Paula Rego, Anish Kapoor, Ai Weiwei Maggi Hambling and Quentin Blake.

In 2021, Freedom from Torture raised £265,000, which provided life-changing support for survivors of torture across the UK, including running creative groups, such as art therapy, creative writing and gardening. Freedom from Torture’s values of compassion, empowerment, resolve and hope align with our mission to have a positive impact in the communities in which we operate. For example, our build-to-rent brand Way of Life has an award-winning community engagement initiative that supports a range of hyper-local, grassroots community projects.

The charity has five centres across the UK, including London, Birmingham and Manchester where the Long Harbour Group is, or has been, operational. Long Harbour is committed to contributing to the efforts supporting the rehabilitation of refugees and asylum seekers who have survived torture, ensuring that the UK remains a safe place of refuge for them.
