Long Harbour raises over £19,000 for LandAid as it celebrates the launch of The Eades in Walthamstow

Long Harbour, the investment manager specialising in operational real estate, has launched The Eades, a £300m build-to-rent asset in the heart of Walthamstow, North East London.

October 9, 2025

The Eades is Long Harbour’s first direct development, offering 495 high-quality homes for rent across two towers, including 99 available at Discount to Market Rent. Residents have access to over 25,000 square feet of community amenities, ranging from co-working spaces, a gym and yoga studio to a rooftop terrace with breath taking views across London. Long Harbour appointed Way of Life, an award-winning residential management and lettings business, to manage the property.

The opening of The Eades on 18 September featured a charity abseil of one of the towers, with participants including Long Harbour’s Managing Director for Multifamily Rebecca Taylor, Finance Director Douglas Mckenzie and General Counsel Anna Butler, descending 34 stories in support of Land Aid and their mission to end youth homelessness in the UK. The event raised over £19,000.

Long Harbour worked closely with Waltham Forest Council and local organisations to deliver the project, including the Hornbeam Centre, the Waltham Forest Community Hub and the William Morris Gallery. Local artists, including Angry Dan, were commissioned to produce murals, bespoke art and interior design inspired by the Walthamstow area, inside the building. The scheme was designed by Assael Architecture and delivered by Tide Construction, with the interior design of the Amenity by Nicemakers, delivered by DuBoulay Projects. The scheme is built to operate sustainably, with a 4.5/5 star Home Quality Mark and fully electric systems that support London’s journey towards a net-zero future.

Rebecca Taylor, Managing Director for Multifamily at Long Harbour, said: “In the spirit of giving back, a few of us even braved abseiling down the side of this very building to raise money for LandAid. Alongside the 99DMR units, we are also proud to have dedicated a number of homes here to LandAid’s Build to Rent Pathfinders initiative –ensuring that this development supports not only residents today, but future opportunities for young people in need of housing. Our thanks must go to Waltham Forest Council for your leadership, support and shared vision.

“The Eades also pays tribute to Walthamstow’s cultural heritage. The name honours Madge Gill who was born Maude Ethel Eades– a pioneering self-taught local artist, whose creativity and spirit reflect the energy and character of this borough. Just as her work gave voice to the community of her time, we hope The Eades will stand as a place of opportunity, connection, and inspiration for the people of Walthamstow today.”

Cllr Ahsan Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Housing and Regeneration at the London Borough of Waltham Forest, said: “The launch of The Eades marks a significant milestone in our borough’s regeneration journey. Delivering hundreds of high-quality homes, including much-needed affordable housing, while also supporting LandAid in their vital mission to eradicate youth homelessness. Addressing the housing crisis is one of the council’s key missions, and this development reflects not only our commitment to tackling that challenge, but also the creative spirit and community values that define Walthamstow.

“We’re proud to have worked in partnership with Long Harbour to bring forward a scheme that supports local organisations, celebrates our cultural heritage, and creates new employment opportunities for local people, both during construction and now through its ongoing operation. The provision of 99 Discount Market Rent homes for keyworkers speaks to a real consideration for our NHS heroes and other public sector workers, many of whom work shifts and will now be able to enjoy the building’s amenities, such as the gym, co-working spaces and yoga studio, at their leisure and on their own schedule.

“The design also enhances the public realm through thoughtfully designed amenities and community spaces, and is a powerful example of how development can be both ambitious and socially responsible. I’d like to thank our project partners at Long Harbour, and commend the Planning Committee and Ward Councillors for helping make this project a reality. Finally, I’d like to wish all the new residents every happiness as they move into their new homes.”
